Breast Asymmetry (Uneven Breasts)
It is not unusual for women to have some roughness to their breasts. However, in certain cases this can be very intense. In some women this breast asymmetry can be as much as two or three cup sizes in difference. There can also be a difference in the shape of the breasts, and there can be varying degrees of droop as well. Treatment for breast asymmetry is best performed on women who are done going through puberty so no further breast development is expected.
How is breast asymmetry (uneven breasts) surgically corrected?
There are several alternatives in the surgical correction of asymmetric breasts, depending on the patient’s exact presentation. In some unusual cases, the addition of a silicone or saline breast implant may help the situation. However, this is not enough most of the time. Alteration of breast droop (or ptosis) may be involved and this may be different from side to side. A patient may need a full breast lift (or mastopexy) on one side and a mini (peri-areolar) on the other. While alteration is available, it should be noted that even after surgery, the breasts most likely will NOT look identical to each other. They may be much enhanced but there will always be differences from one side to the other.
Additional Information About Breast Asymmetry:
Treatment for breast asymmetry is a breast augmentation procedure usually done to correct a difference in the shape, size, or nipple position. It is best performed on women who have completed puberty so no further breast development is expected.
